Smart Media Cutter App

Smart Media Cutter processes all video and audio files locally on your device. We do not upload or access your media files.

In normal operation, we only access the internet for:

  • Downloading transcription models, when the user requests it by clicking “Download model”
  • Checking for new versions of the app and changelogs (can be disabled in the welcome screen or in app settings)
  • Opt-in telemetry

Cloud Transcription & Translation: If you use cloud features, data is sent to third-party providers for processing (click their names to open their respective privacy policies):

We store usage metrics (file size, segment count, language) for billing purposes, but we do not retain the audio content or results after processing. Usage of cloud features is entirely optional. Local transcription using Whisper works entirely offline.

Telemetry: We do not collect usage analytics or crash reports without your explicit consent. You can enable or disable telemetry at any time in the app settings. Telemetry data is completely anonymous.

Feedback: When you submit feedback through the app, we store your message, the selected topic, and optionally your email address if you provide one. Your email is only used to respond to your feedback if requested. Feedback data is stored on our servers and may be reviewed by our team to improve the app.

When you buy a license, we store your email address associated with the order. This helps us recover your license in case you lose it. Emails are stored on a dedicated server in a database that is not connected to the public internet.
