Case example: Cutting long videos short

Step-by-step instructions on how to cut a long streaming video short without hours of renderding. An easy method to attract e.g., more Twitch followers through YouTube content creation. Follow the instructions below:

Step 1. Getting started

Download, install, and open Smart Media Cutter software on your computer. You can next open a file for editing such as my 1h 4min long CS GO stream that I’d like to cut into two separate CS GO clips (~30min each).

Step 2. Cutting the right scenes

Selecting the cut area happens through Smart Media Cutter’s timeline graph in the bottom bar of the window. I first want to navigate into the beginning of the match (timestamp ~00:00:55) where the actual gameplay (first half of the match) begins.

Game warmup that I want tot cut out can be selected with the select button

And cut with the “razor blade button

Similarly, I can select all the other scenes in my 1h 4min long video that I’d like to cut. Note that I can only make 1 video at the time, i.e., I have to repeat the process for both of my CS GO clips separately.

Step 3. Exporting the video

After selecting all the areas to be cut, I can export the edited video with default export settings.

End-result is a new 31:40 minute long CS GO clip in a .mp4 format that can be downloaded to my YouTube channel to attract more viewers for my future streams.

Step 4. More editing through e.g., transcribe feature coming soon

Later I can come back back to my edited CS GO video and use e.g., Smart Media Cutter’s transcribe feature, which let’s me easily to graps the most engaging content of the video, which can be used to drive even more traction e.g., through YouTube shorts.
